‘Love Blossoms’ Brooch
This beautiful little gem of a brooch has been lovingly stitched using a variety of vintage threads found in an old British textile mill dating back to the 1800’s. The combination of vintage thread and a snippet of hand quilted 1940’s cotton eiderdown creates the most delicate marriage.
I have embellished my design with a handmade ‘sunshine’ button, sewn on a piece of braid with the word ‘Love’ and finished with a vintage hook taken from my Mum’s sewing box.
Would make a beautiful gift.
Unique and one-of-a-kind.
The story behind…
A lot of the time my work often evolves quite simply from the materials I select to work with. I let the textiles do the talking by listening to the colours, patterns of type of cloth I am using.
As I love stitching with pre-loved snippets of really old textiles I often work with them to form the base to a design.
The Spring blooms were inspired by the vintage patterns on the cloth.
